Recently I heard that Anthropic rolled out identity verification on Claude, and I ran into it today.

Once the prompt appears, you need a valid government-issued photo ID. After clicking Start, it first asks you to choose the country or region that issued your ID. Then a QR code pops up — scan it with your phone, take photos of your ID to upload, and finally go through face recognition.

It went through in just a few seconds. (When I used the same verification flow on LinkedIn before, the review actually took 3 days.)

I used an international driver’s license issued by another country. I heard that Chinese IDs may get the account banned directly, so I didn’t dare try.

That said, the verification bar isn’t high — with a little effort you can get through it. 😄😄😄
