February 11 Update - Block China Unicom Ads and Prevent Unicom Information Platform Pop-ups

This method can block and prevent China Unicom ads, specifically the recently launched Unicom Information Platform pop-ups.

Create a new text document and enter the following content:

attrib -s -r C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

call notepad.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

attrib +r +s C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
4
exit

Then rename the file to: a.bat

Run the created a.bat file. In the Notepad editor that pops up, add new lines at the bottom with the following content:

Save and exit.

I’m not sure which specific IP addresses belong to Unicom, but adding a few more doesn’t hurt. Unicom has been getting more and more annoying lately.
